2020

“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”

-Marcel Proust

January and February weren’t nearly as productive in the soap studio as I had anticipated in 2020, but instead, I’ve collected some great moments and memories with my grandchildren. It also gave me the unique opportunity to focus on research, drink lots of coffee, work on new product development, and learn more about updating my website. If you can picture a lady  with a towel draped over her diffuser, inhaling “Stress B Gone“, you’ll have a pretty clear image of me on a technology day. But I did it! Well, I think I broke the site once and had to have my web designer fix it, but that’s besides the point. (which, coincidently, if you are looking for website support, Tammy Finch is amazing!!).

So, today is the culmination of eveything that I’ve been working on over the past two months. Seriously, learn this stuff while you’re young! The process of re-awakening dormant brain cells is harder than calling on the ones that are in top physical condition and more importantly, willing! The result, however, is a feeling of being alive on the inside,  waking up with excitement to learn new things, and the thrill of unveiling new discoveries. I have a couple of new products that I stumbled upon, quite by accident. I’m fine tuning the finished product, packaging is “on order”, then the labeling process, but it’s coming soon, so stay with us!

Products are just a component of the process, however. I decided to unearth my blog, not because I think I’m terribly interesting, but with all this research under my belt, I truly did learn a few things and would like to share them with you. I’ve got recipes, products that have benefited us in one way or another, some healthy tips and hacks, updates on Paisley Lane and whatever else comes this way. I would covet your interaction with questions, or things you might like to know more about. I’ll do my best, and if I don’t know, I’ll start researching and we can learn together. Thank you for coming along with me and I’ll look forward to our journey into 2020!

Soap of the Month

Soap of the Month has had a short delay, but we’re bursting at the seams! The new scents are to die for! You can sign up here if you would like to join our Soap of the Month Club. Choose either three, six or twelve month delivery options.

The Paisley Lane theme this year will be “fragrance layering”.

Do you have that one special fragrance that you can’t live without? You know, your signature scent; the one that everyone knows you by? Have you ever wondered how to make it last all throughout the day without spraying it on so heavily that even You can’t stand it? Well, guess what? You can! It’s called fragrance layering.

Fragrances are complex by nature and the various notes tend to fade by evaporation. Fragrances are typically made up of three notes: top, middle and base. Top notes are the ones you smell immediately upon application. Once the top note hits the skin, the heart or middle notes begin to bloom. Lastly, we have the base note. This note lingers longest on the skin, and is most often what makes that scent memorable. Fragrance notes are also released at different times, depending on the body application. A soap will often present a different note, than say, a powder, or a body mist. So by layering, a person can capture the complexity of the fragrance, making it last longer throughout the day.

Founded in 2012, I was on a mission to create bath and body products with a natural edge, but still pretty enough to make my customers and friends feel pampered and special.
